This course will equip students to learn disaster preparedness, mitigation and disaster recovery from regional, national and international perspectives

To enhance knowledge, skills and experience in the basic principles of Counselling

To explore and discuss cultural, legal and ethical issues related to Crisis and trauma, during and after a disaster

To provide practical sessions, mock/ drills on disaster management and counselling skills

Trained management personnel will be placed in industries for safety requirements as safety officers

 

Content

Unit – 1 ( 30 hours)

  1. Basics of Disaster and its Management – Dimensions of Natural and Man-made Disaster, Policy and legal framework National and International Perspective- management, preparedness, policy, relief and rehabilitation, building codes. Disaster Management Act and Amendments.
  2. Stage and Cycle of Disaster management: Pre, During and Post Disaster management.
  3. Administrative Frame Work for Disaster, Policies and Legislation: National
  4. National Disaster Management and Intervention: First Aid, Mock drills and engaging people in preparedness – Mobilizing indigenous human and material resources.
  5. Fire and Safety –Management and Prevention

 

Unit – II (30 hours)

  1. Introduction to Counselling: Concept, basic Principles, Ethical Consideration and Counselling Skills.
  2. Assessment and Intervention in Counselling: Stress and Psychological Disorders
  3. Trauma Counselling and Management: Understanding trauma and Grief, Crisis mental Health Counselling, Yoga and Meditation as Intervention.
  4. Psycho-social Intervention Skills and Management : Psychological First Aid, mock sessions, case studies and material Resources.
