About Course
Objectives : Cosmetic Chemistry is a 30 hours online Certificate course which aims at understanding the basic chemistry employed in cosmetics. This course is aimed at learning the principles underlying cosmetic technology, analytical techniques in cosmetic products, approach to cosmetic research and development, Good manufacturing practices and quality assurance in cosmetic technology. At the end of course, the participants will be able to have a better outlook on cosmetic formulations and their usage.
Eligibility :All B.Sc students who have studied chemistry at PUC/(10+2)level
Contents: Introduction to the principles of cosmetic technology, general study of cosmetics, classification of cosmetics , Analytical techniques in cosmetic products, preparation of some hair care products :Hair dye, Hair spray, shampoo. Good manufacturing practices and quality assurance in cosmetic technology, Product development and cosmetic formulations, approach to cosmetic research and development, Global regulatory and IPR guidelines for marketing Cosmetics. Color cosmetics: overview of color cosmetics, Formula composition, Trends and innovation in make-up products.
Learning outcomes:-After successful completion of this course the candidate enrolled will be able to understand the theory and tricks employed in the marketing of cosmetics.
Course duration :October 10, 2023 to February, 2024
Timings :one video per week available in the online platform
Testing/Evaluation pattern: Assignment : 25 marks; Unit test (MCQ type) 25 marks. End semester Test (objective):100 marks
Certificate: Digitally generated Certificates will be issued to students who have successfully completed the course by the college.
